Timing Is Everything
06:38
|
|
||
If your timing was all wrong d'you think I'd tell you in a song?
D'you think it's right to fall apart and tell me that I broke your heart?
I've gotten over more than you, it wasn't all that hard to do
You have to change your line, you use it all the time
Go away from my window
I can't see you any more
Go away from here I'm asking
Cos if you don't then I'm not sure you're gonna like what I have to say
Please don't think of me at night cos I don't think it would be right
I think it's time we both moved on, like I tried after you'd gone
But now you're standing at my door saying you can't do this any more
All that I can say is you're the one who walked away
Go away from my window
I can't see you any more
Go away from here I'm asking
Cos if you don't then I'm not sure you're gonna like what I have to say
The truth is that I'm kind of stoned, I could do with being alone
To get a handle on my thoughts and be somewhere that you are not
I know that this must really hurt, but I have to make this work
We have had our time, and the truth is now I'm fine
Go away from my window
I can't see you any more
Go away from here I'm asking
Cos if you don't then I'm not sure you're gonna like what I have to say

Listening
Listening
Not Listening
Not Listening
Clap your hands while people die
Because they tell you to
Offer prayers for evil men
Who won't do shit for you

Stranger Things
03:55
|
|

Stranger things have happened but I don't know what they are
It's easy for you to say that, you haven't travelled far
Stranger worlds than this exist if you know where to look
But you've never been the type to play it by the book
Stranger reasons are given for living in the past
You think your mind can save you but these things never last
Stranger things than fiction, more unreal than fact
You want to find your way home and got lost on your way back

On This Hillside
05:03
|
|
||
I was born on a hillside, long enough ago
Decided to move away, thought I needed to grow
Thought the place was holding me back, making me old
Needed somewhere I could go where I though the streets were paved with gold
Thought I had to be the kind of person I wanted to see
When I looked at my reflection
So I moved to city, said goodbye to my folks
Got a little place to live, ended up flat broke
Got my heart broke a couple of times and lost some friends
But all in all I thought I'd done ok, in the end
But still I couldn't see the person I wanted to be
When I looked at my reflection
Stumbled all around this place I called my hometwon
Tried to make some sense of it all and not fall down
Held on to the things that mattered and that was enough
Got to realising maybe things weren't so tough
Finally started to see that the person I wanted to be
Wasn't in my reflection
Now I'm living on another hillside and enjoying my life
Got a home and a family, got a beautiful wife
Realise that my hometown wasn't a curse
And that living is easier than trying to rehearse
And trying to hide behind the idea in my mind
Of what I saw in my reflection

Cactus Flower

Chorus
Hey Cactus Flower, what do you know?
Will you come to tell me when it's my time to go?
Hey Cactus Flower what will you say?
When you come to meet me, and show me the way?
1/
I haven't seen you in such a long long time
And for twenty five years that's been fine
The last time I saw you, my daddy died
The last time you flowered, I broke down and cried
Chorus
2/
If my heart was pure, the Lord might let me in
To sit at his right hand and be with my kin
But the truth, Cactus Flower, is I don't want to go
It might make no difference, but I thought that you should know.
Chorus

Why is it I only hear from you when I don't need you any more?
What is it that makes you go looking for love at someone else's door?
You dropped me when I thought I needed you
Left me here all by myself
But as soon as I find some happiness
You show up and want to take me off the shelf
You said you loved me and you always had
But when we were together you just treated me bad
So I moved on and you couldn't stand it
I think that you want me left empty handed

Down From The Mountain
04:20
|
|
||
Down from the mountain
In the shanty town
From ghettoes in the city
To the suburbs out of town
Desperate lives decipher hopes hidden in a song
Sing it with some heart my friends
And I will sing along
There's no tune like a good tune
The devil don't own them all
Just music from the people
Unified in song
This machine kills fascists
Stands up to Babylon
Tells tales of truth and justice
Of love, of having fun
Play it on your banjo
Riff it on your horn
Mix it up with drums and bass
Guitars and singalong
There's no tune like a good tune
The devil don't own them all
Just music from the people
Unified in song
This sounds the sound of freedom
It hasn't changed in years
A blend of many cultures
All colours and all creeds
Heard it from an old man
Whose daddy sang a song
Sung in some forgotten show
The chorus girls still sing along
There's no tune like a good tune
The devil don't own them all
Just music from the people
Unified in song
